Winona History:
Winona Elementary School is named after Winona Washburn Taylor (1855-1945). Winona Washborn Taylor is the daughter of early Loveland settlers, Judge John Washburn and his wife. In fact, in late 1874 John Washburn officially platted a town site near the present-day Winona Elementary and named the town "Winona" in honor of his daughter. The settlement was short lived and became part of present day Loveland, but Winona Washburn Taylor's name will be remembered! Ms. Washburn was a Loveland pioneer and educator.
